Wedding & bridal garter sets are
keepsakes that you'll cherish for years and possibly hand down to your daughter.
The wedding tradition often includes the groom removing the garter from
the bride's leg during the reception (often with all guests watching and
the band playing background music). All single men are then gathered in
an area commonly on the dance floor. The groom then usually has his back
to the group of men and then tosses (or sling-shots) the garter into the
group. The tradition goes that the man who catches the garter is the next
to marry. This tradition varies on how it's done. Brides often wish to have
their bridal garter as a keepsake from the wedding day, but also want to
participate in the garter toss tradition. For this reason, some garter sets
include multiple garters... one to toss and one to keep. Another route is
to purchase two garters separately. These options allow one to be tossed
and one to be cherished by the bride as a keepsake garter.
